How does SnoreMD work and how can it help you?

SnoreMD is a registered, Class 1 Medical device that is unique in that it allows you to ‘micro-adjust the advancement of the jaw in 1-millimetre increments at any time for optimal effectiveness and comfort.

This design and technology is not only important but necessary when reducing snoring as snoring itself is caused by a partially closed upper airway (the nose and throat). The collapsed/relaxed neck muscles cause restricted airflow and the airway becomes too narrow for air to travel through to the lungs. SnoreMD uses a technique called ‘mandibular repositioning’ in which it advances and holds the lower jaw in a slightly forward position so that the airway is opened to help prevent your tongue from collapsing into your throat. In doing this it reduces the risk of soft tissues falling close enough together to vibrate causing the dreadful snoring sound. When your airway is kept free from obstruction your body gets the proper oxygen it needs throughout the night to get a restful night’s sleep. SnoreMD’s technology is designed to do this with extreme comfort while you sleep.

SnoreMD’s advanced design is derived from years of engineering research and development. It is made with premium dental-grade copolymers and best in class dental lab-quality, delivering long-lasting performance. SnoreMD has a cushioned design on the upper and lower trays which is designed to be gentle on your teeth. Mouth-breathers will also welcome SnoreMD’s V-Flow design that allows free airflow through the front of the device while sleeping. There are no uncomfortable acrylics, screws, rubber bands, rods, or torsion.

Directions:

1) Boil Water:  Place water in a pot and boil over the stove. Once boiling, turn the stove off and carefully remove the pot.

2) Place SnoreMD in Water for exactly 30 seconds: Once the water stops bubbling, place your SnoreMD into the water for precisely 30 seconds.

3) Remove & Rinse: Quickly remove your SnoreMD from boiled water using tongs, then submerge for 2 - 3 seconds in a cup of water at room temperature before placing it into your mouth to begin the moulding process.

4) Mould to mouth: Put your SnoreMD into your mouth ensuring the ‘U Symbol’ on the upper tray is at the top. Bite down firmly for 30 seconds. While biting down, close your mouth and suck in to form a vacuum. Press fingers on your cheeks, and your tongue against the inside part of your SnoreMD to mould the material around your teeth.

5) Set the mould: Remove your SnoreMD from your mouth and place it into a cup of cold water. This will set the mould.

6) Ready to use!: You are now ready to begin using your SnoreMD. Start using at the factory setting 3. After using for two nights and becoming used to wearing your SnoreMD, (if necessary) gradually adjust in 1mm increments until your snoring starts to subside.

FAQ:

What is the SnoreMD device?
SnoreMD is used to gently hold your lower jaw in a slightly forward position with its patented repositioning technology. This technology will help open your air way to breathe easier while sleeping at night.
It is a similar shape to a mouth guard but has been designed for comfort while sleeping. With 10 x 1mm adjustable micro settings to match a patients jaw for comfort, SnoreMD is easy to use and low risk.
SnoreMD is a registered, Class 1 Medical device.

What are the Benefits of using SnoreMD?
SnoreMD reduces snoring by bringing your lower jaw forward to open your airway to breathe easier at night. SnoreMD is a Class 1 medical device which means it is less evasive then some other snoring devices. The patented, one of a kind adjustability technology allows for easy use and optimum positioning. The dental grade copolymers mean that the SnoreMD is made from high quality materials and long lasting. SnoreMD is made to be portable so it is also easy to take on holidays or business trips.

How long does it take to feel comfortable with SnoreMD?
Typically, the adjustment period takes about 3-5 nights of consistent use. It is perfectly normal for your jaw, teeth, and gums to feel moderately sore and fatigued at first as this is a foreign object that you are introducing into your mouth. This may feel much like getting braces or a retainer for the first time.
If you consider the amount of time you have been suffering from snoring, a few days is a short amount of time to persevere to get a good night sleep.

When can I see benefits?
The benefits of a good night’s sleep and waking up feeling refreshed can begin immediately! We recommend allowing at least 1 week for the body to become used to sleeping with the SnoreMD device.

Is SnoreMD easy to fit?
Fitting is quick and easy. Immerse the device in boiling water for 30 seconds. After dipping it in cool water for a couple of seconds to remove any residual boiling water, SnoreMD is placed in your mouth and self-moulded for 30 seconds.
This process can be repeated 2-3 times. A step-by-step Instruction Guide is included in the SnoreMD kit. Alternatively, you can view the Fitting tutorial video that can be found on the website. We highly suggest it be read in detail or the tutorial watched in its entirety before fitting SnoreMD.

Can I use SnoreMD if I grind my teeth?
SnoreMD can be used by individuals who grind their teeth as SnoreMD holds your teeth in place during the night, and there is enough cushioning material between the teeth to keep the teeth from making contact. SnoreMD can replace the current mouth guard being used for grinding.

Can I use SnoreMD with Dentures?
For people with partial dentures, if there are enough teeth in the front to hold the device securely in place, then SnoreMD may be an option for you. However, SnoreMD is not recommended for individuals with full dentures.
Because SnoreMD holds your jaw in a slightly forward position, having dentures may not keep SnoreMD in a secure position throughout the night. By taking out the dentures at night, there may not be enough hold between SnoreMD and the gums to keep the device secure throughout the night.
NB: SnoreMD may be suitable for patients wearing partial dentures.

Can I breathe through my mouth while wearing SnoreMD?
Yes! SnoreMD lets you breathe completely naturally, through your mouth and nose. We recommend you do not buy any device that restricts breathing through your mouth or nose.
When I use SnoreMD at night, saliva builds up in my mouth. What should I do?
The saliva build up is natural so there is no need to worry; SnoreMD is designed so that you may swallow the saliva to prevent it from causing any discomfort

Does SnoreMD cause TMJ / TMD (Temporomandibular Joint Disorders) and Pain after use?
Unlike other products that lock your jaw into a setting, SnoreMD’s design provides microcalibration. If your jaw feels uncomfortable, just reduce the settings to bring back the advancement of SnoreMD until more comfortable.

How do I clean my SnoreMD?
SnoreMD can be cleaned by using a toothbrush and toothpaste. Because SnoreMD is designed to allow you to pull apart the upper and lower trays, it means you can thoroughly clean all surfaces of your device. This also makes SnoreMD the most hygienic choice.

How do I store my SnoreMD?
Store your cleaned SnoreMD in the supplied case. This ensures that it will retain its shape and prevent accidental damage.

How often should SnoreMD be replaced?
Each SnoreMD undergoes normal wear and tear through the course of nightly use. We recommend replacing the unit every 12 months. Some individuals grind their teeth (bruxism), more than others and therefore may need to replace them more often.

What if I make a mistake when moulding?
SnoreMD can be re-moulded up to 3 times.
