1. Wash hands before and after treating a wound
Gently clean wound and surrounding skin. Dry the skin surrounding the wound and clip any excess hair close to the wound.
2. Open the pouch by peeling apart the flaps on the pouch paper. Remove the dressing. Start to remove the backing sheet from the dressing. Anchor the adhesive side of the dressing to the skin.
3. Smooth the dressing over the wound, removing the remaining backing paper. Ensure the dressing has adhered all around the wound and surrounding skin.
When to Change
Fluid absorbed by the dressing will appear as a darker patch at the surface of the dressing. Inspect the dressing frequently to monitor the size of the darker patch. Dressings can be left in place for up to 7 days depending on the condition of the wound and the surrounding skin or until wound fluid (darker patch) is visible and approaches to within 0.5cm of the edge of the dressing pad, whichever is sooner.
To remove the ALLEVYN Adhesive, lift one corner of the dressing and slowly peel back until completely removed from the wound.
