Citrus limon fruit peel essential oil: Lemons and lemon essential oil have been used
in Ayurvedic medicine to treat a wide spectrum of health conditions for at least 1,000 years. Lemon essential oil comes from cold-pressing the lemon peel and not the inner fruit which releases its fat soluble phytonutrients, including terpenes, sesquiterpenes, aldehydes, alcohols, esters and sterols. The oil is anti-inflammatory for the respiratory
system, improves immunity and is also anti-bacterial which all work to help assist with
the symptoms of seasonal allergies.
Mentha X pipertia leaf essential oil: This cooling and refreshing essential oil has a
fresh, sharp and powerfully penetrating menthol and herbaceous scent. With its high menthol content and strong, fresh, minty scent, peppermint oil is one of the best when it comes to clearing up your sinuses. While it is not an antihistamine like other oils it is effective at opening up the airways, relieving a scratchy throat and relieving headaches caused by a build up of sinus pressure.
Eucalyptus globulus branch terminal leafy essential oil: It is difficult not to spot a eucalyptus tree in Australia with its name given because of the term eucalypt meaning well (eu) and covered (calyptos). Eucalypts come in all shapes and sizes and dominate the landscape from alpine regions to the outback and edges of rainforests. A eucalypt’s leaves are packed with oil glands that produce the aromatic compounds that give us
their distinctive scent. These compounds help to protect the tree from pests. The main actions of eucalyptus are expectorants, antitussive, nasal decongestant and antimicrobial. Two clinical studies have demonstrated that inhalation of eucalyptus oil reduces nasal congestion. It is an effective treatment for purulent and non-purulent respiratory infections such as bronchitis, asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary airways disease (COPD). Eucalyptus oil is used as symptomatic treatment in obstructive respiratory conditions such as bronchitis, asthma, the common cold and other conditions associated with catarrh of the upper respiratory tract. In Australia, the oil is generally used externally in vaporisers, chest rubs and nasal inhalations.
Melaleuca alternifolia branch terminal leafy essential oil: Tea tree oil, also known as melaleuca oil is an essential oil with a camphoraceous odour. It is derived from the leaves of the Melaleuca alternifolia tree, natively grown in Southeast Queensland and Northeastern coast of New South Wales Australia. The Bundjalong Australian Aboriginal people used the leaves for many centuries. Tea tree oil is reported to have anti-inflammatory activity and the inhalation of the oil has both anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory actions. Very early in its history, the leaves of the melaleuca plant were crushed and inhaled to treat coughs and colds. Traditionally, the leaves were also soaked to make an infusion that was used to treat sore throats. Today, studies show
that tea tree oil has antimicrobial activity, giving it the ability to fight bacteria that lead to nasty respiratory tract infections, and antiviral activity that’s helpful for fighting or even preventing congestion, coughs and the common cold.
Cymbopogon flexuosus leaf essential oil: Common name lemongrass is a tropical grassy plant used in cooking and herbal medicine. It has a powerful citrus scent and is a popular aromatherapy tool for relieving nasal congestion due to its anti-inflammatory properties.
Directions:
Inhale deeply through each nostril in turn, while holding other nostril closed.
Repeat every 2-3 hours should you required.
