Gaultheria procumbens leaf wood essential oil: Wintergreen oil is made by stem processing of warm soaked leaves. Primarily used for painful conditions including nerve pain, arthritis, swelling and inflammation. It contains methyl salicylate which is closely related to aspirin giving it analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties.
Kunzea ambigua leaf essential oil: Kunzea oil is distilled from the leaves of the
kunzea plant native to Tasmania. Has a pleasant, fresh scent with comparable properties to tea tree. Due to its anti-inflammatory nature, it has been used by natives to massage the skin for joint pain and arthritis.
Cinnamomum camphora stem wood essential oil: It is prepared from the dried stem wood (inner bark) of a certain evergreen tree. Used as a source of camphor oil used commonly in vapour rubs, liniments and balms for its anti-inflammatory properties. Used to help relieve pain and muscle aches while stimulating circulation and interacting with receptors on the sensory nerves. With dual hot and cold action, camphor oil numbs and cools nerve endings, then warms the painful area as it increases circulation.
Melaleuca cajuputi leaf essential oil: Cajuput oil is made by steam distillation of fresh
leaves of the Cajuput tree – Melaleuca cajuputi. It is often used alone or in combination with other ingredients in antiseptic lotions to treat joint pain (rheumatism) and other pains. It contains a component called cineole which can surface warmth and irritation and relieves pain beneath the skin.
Menthol: Menthol, also called peppermint camphor, has a strong minty, cooling odour and taste. When ingested, inhaled or topically applied to the skin, the person experiences a cooling sensation. It is able to induce the psychophysical sensation of
cold by interacting with the part of the sensory nervous system related to cold detection. When applied to the skin, menthol has a local analgesic or anesthetic effect so it can help to provide pain relief for conditions such as arthritis. Research has shown that including it in topical creams for arthritis can help to decrease pain and improve
movement.
Syzygium aromaticum flower bud essential oil: Clove bud oil is derived from a plant that
originally comes from India – syzygium aromaticum. It is most popular because of its
sedative properties. It has been used for dry skin and other skin problems, reducing pain and soothing inflammation, irritation and burning and helping the blood flow through the area and in turn reducing the pain.
